The SSD-JBOD for use in data centers as the centralized, high performance storage system is suitable up to 92 TB on only 2U rackmount. The server platform can be selected free and flexible according to the existing infrastructure and the performance requirements. Through the usage of newest technologies here the connection to the host via high-performance 12 GB/s SAS interfaces as well as the use of cost-effective SATA SSDs out of the data center class. This is a highly optimized price / performance ratio with up to 2 million IOPS and achieved a data transfer rate of up to 10 GB/s, so that the SSD JBOD Zstor AJ248F will be used often, where otherwise cost-intensive systems with SAS SSDs are provided.

Zstor AJ248F high performing through databolt® technology

Thanks to the consistent use of LSI/Avago Databolt® technology, the Zstor AJ248F SSD-JBOD reaches a high performance with cost-effective SATA-3 SSDs. The SSD-JBOD is connected via SAS-3 12 GB/s interfaces to the host. Inbound and outbound SAS 12 GB/s data streams are led directly to the LSI/Avago expander chip and internally cached. The Databolt® technology distributes this 12 Gb/s data streams to two SATA 6 GB/s interfaces. A performance gain is achieved by the Databolt® technology typically by up to 50%.

High available SSD-JBOD

The Zstor AJ248F is fully certified by Microsoft for use with Windows Server 2012 R2 especially for storage spaces. As "Shared Storage" the high-performance SSD storage serves data as centralized system e. g. for attached scale out file server (SoFS) or is used in a highly available Windows Server Cluster.

The used data center SATA SSDs from a market leading manufacturer are modified and certified by Zstor for the use in AJ248F. This performance optimized SSD-JBOD system operated with host-side 12G SAS interfaces while Databolt® technology and SATA SSDs store the data.

Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 needs a high speed access to its storage. Due to the functionality of Storage Spaces there is a just a need for a "Bunch of Disks" (JBOD). Storage Spaces manages the attached hard disk drives as Software Defined Storage and offers storage pools, data reliability, deduplication, file sharing (NFSv4, CIFS), iSCSI targets and much more, inculde SMB 3.0 support. Zstor tested, configured and certified JBODs within Microsoft's certification process for use with Storage Spaces in Windows Server 2012 R2. 

Cost effective and flexible use

JBOD technology itself is a proven way to serve native disk drive capacities to a server or cluster. Zstor AJ series uses latest SAS technology with up to 12 Gb/s data transfer even internally to each attached SSD as well as externally to the hosts. The complete design is developed with hot-swappable SSD drive carrier, hot-swappable power supplies and hot-swappable I/O modules.
